John,
This week, we honor the 62nd anniversary of the Equal Pay Act – a landmark victory in our ongoing struggle for equity.
While that law made overt gender discrimination illegal back in 1963, working women still only earn 83 cents for every dollar paid to men.
Black women are only paid 66 cents on the dollar, and Latina women fare even worse, with only 59.2 cents on the dollar compared to men.
This inequity steals nearly a million dollars from working women over a lifetime.
As your Congresswoman, Chair of the ASPIRE PAC, Secretary of the Congressional Black Caucus, and a proud Democrat, I'm unapologetically working hard to ensure that everyone in our communities is treated equally and paid fairly.
I’m fighting to dismantle these pay gaps through bold policy and expanding opportunity. I can’t close this gap alone – I need YOU in this movement.
Will you join me by adding your name to our petition today? Each voice that signs on strengthens the fight to close the gender wage gap once and for all.
When we talk about building an economy that works for all of us, what we mean is an economy that pays all women their full worth – no exceptions.
I’ll always champion fairness on Capitol Hill. You can count on me for that.
It means a lot to know that I can count on you to support this fight and back me up.
Sign on now: Demand equal pay for equal work.
Thank you,
Marilyn
