The Lincoln Project

Friend,

Yes, you read that subject line correctly.

This is an abuse of power. No other way to put it.

Trump can’t for the life of him send the National Guard to the Capitol when his mob is trying to hang the vice president, but he’s happy to send nearly 5,000 troops to LA for a protest with less attendance than this year’s Super Bowl parade? Come on.

Trump radicalized this situation when he didn’t have to. This is all a political stunt to pick up a few points with his cult members because he’s failing them in every department.

And riding Trump’s coattails of course is the drunken dope he put in charge of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, who deployed 700 Marines to LA. Still trying to make up for Signalgate, we guess.

Just a reminder, this isn’t normal. If the governor of California thought the situation warranted troops being deployed, he would've asked for it. But that’s not what happened. Trump jumped the gun. Trump made protestors even angrier than they already were. And let’s not forget that Trump started all of this by ordering ICE to break the law and jail every brown person in sight.

He’s inching closer and closer towards a dictatorship every day of the week. Deploying troops at nobody’s request? That’s oligarchy sh*t. And we’re not having any of it.

This is fueling the unrest. This is a blatant abuse of power. This is un-American. Help us make sure Trump’s reign of terror ends sooner rather than later >>
