Dear John,
Over the last few days, our thoughts have been with the people of Los Angeles. We see your courage to stand up against aggressive ICE actions that strip families apart and dehumanize immigrants in our communities. We are outraged that the Trump administration continues to demonstrate authoritarian tactics by calling on military forces to escalate tensions and silence the right of people to protest unjust actions. We know that this unnecessary enforcement will have long-term effects on the health and wellness of immigrant families including the 1 in 2 California children who have an immigrant parent. And the push in Congress to cut Medicaid and SNAP programs in order to increase funding for more immigration enforcement will only put more people in harm. We pledge to continue to defend access to health and food services for immigrant families and we are ready to ensure that they receive needed resources. We call on journalists to document and tell the truth of what is happening on the ground and on local and state lawmakers to continue resisting the unjust federal enforcement actions. We believe in the power of community resistance and stand with our California partners to continue to protect immigrant families.
