 Yesterday at the interfaith prayer
vigil in LA with Bend the Arc CEO Jamie Beran
Friend,
Last night, I stood with hundreds of neighbors at an interfaith
vigil in LA. The message was clear: families are sacred, our
immigration stories are sacred, and no one can take down our city.
LA, my home, is one place where Trump’s fascist
playbook1 is unfolding:
Step 1: Threaten
community safety with ICE abductions of workers, protestors, and even
labor leaders like SEIU California's David Huerta. Step
2: Manufacture a “violent” crisis by inflaming public
resistance to the ICE abductions. Step 3: Use the
“crisis” to "justify" and expand authoritarian actions. Repeat until
you achieve a total police state.
Our communities say No. Jews say No. People of many faiths
say No. Immigrants will not be pawns for authoritarianism. Our cities
will not be a staging area for a dictatorship.
What you can do right now to fight back and prepare your
city:

your Senator to demand they reject the Republican’s cruel budget bill
that would expand ICE’s power and reach
As communities in LA rise up against raids designed to tear
families apart, Trump has chosen to escalate the conflict that he
created with the National Guard. And now, the Marines.
As the Trump administration fans the flames, their goal is not to
make anyone safer. It’s to grow support for their own violent, fascist
vision for the country.
That’s why we’ve been fighting the MAGA budget proposal that passed
the House and is now moving to the Senate: it would funnel billions of
dollars into ICE and immigration enforcement, supercharging
the mass kidnapping we are witnessing in LA and around the
country.
Take
action by emailing your Senator and demanding they reject any funding
for Trump’s cruelty.
Thank you for all the ways you are rising up to stop state violence
against our immigrant neighbors and the communities rising up to
protect all of us.
In solidarity,
