AG Nessel Celebrates Three Assistant Attorneys General Being Awarded Prestigious Honors
*LANSING* – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is announcing that three attorneys at the Department of Attorney General have recently received recognition for their exceptional service to the legal profession and State of Michigan. Assistant Attorneys General Roshundra Graham-Simmons and Marla Linderman Richelew have been named recipients of the State Bar of Michigan’s Champion of Justice Award [ [link removed] ]. The award is presented to practicing lawyers and judges who exhibit integrity, uphold the highest principles of the legal profession, and demonstrate extraordinary professional accomplishments. Assistant Attorney General Alexandria Casperson was also recently recognized by the National Association of Women’s Lawyers (NAWL) as a 2025 Rising Star [ [link removed] ], which honors early- to mid-career attorneys committed to NAWL’s mission by advancing women in the profession or advocating for women under the law.
“We are lucky to have some of the most dedicated public servants in the country right here at the Department of Attorney General,” Nessel said. “I am so proud of Alex, Roshundra, and Marla, not just for this recognition, but for the incredible work they do every single day for the people of Michigan.”
*Alexandria Casperson (JPG)* [ [link removed] ]
Casperson currently manages the Job Court [ [link removed] ], Expungement [ [link removed] ], and Wrongful Imprisonment Compensation [ [link removed] ] sections for the Department of Attorney General. She previously prosecuted criminal cases for the State of Michigan including those involving political and police misconduct. Casperson has been a dedicated public servant her entire career, starting at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office in 2015.
She is very active in the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan and also serves on the State Bar of Michigan Criminal Jurisprudence & Practice Committee. Casperson received her J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law, and her B.A. in Crime and Social Justice from the University of Michigan. Last year, Casperson was named to the American Bar Association’s On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyers list [ [link removed] ].
*Roshundra Graham-Simmons (PNG)* [ [link removed] ]
Graham-Simmons serves as the Litigation Section Head of the Children and Youth Services Division [ [link removed] ]. Prior to becoming an Assistant Attorney General in 2019, she was a Lawyer Guardian Ad Litem with The Juvenile Law Group, where she represented children in child welfare and delinquency proceedings. She was also employed with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services as a Children’s Protective Services Specialist, Foster Care Specialist, Facilitator, and Analyst.
Graham-Simmons is active with the ABA Agency Attorney Collaborative, Women Lawyers Association of Michigan as the newly elected Director at Large-Macomb, and The State Bar of Michigan, where she serves as a District H Character and Fitness Committee Member. Outside of work, she enjoys being a lector at church, reading novels, traveling, and spending time with her children and family.
*Marla Linderman Richelew (PNG)* [ [link removed] ]
Linderman Richelew is currently an Assistant Attorney General Appellate Specialist in the Civil Rights & Election Law Division [ [link removed] ]. She is a published author for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, Michigan Lawyers Weekly and Westlaw, and is a former law professor.
Linderman Richelew served numerous leadership roles, including Past President of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, the Washtenaw Association for Justice, and Washtenaw County’s New Lawyers Section. In 2006, the State Bar of Michigan awarded Linderman Richelew the Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year Award. A fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, she has been named a Leader in the Law, Top 20 Women in the Law and Up and Coming Lawyer by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. Linderman Richelew has been designated a Michigan Super Lawyer since 2009 and as a Top 25 Women Consumer Michigan Super Lawyer since 2013. She also currently chairs the State Bar of Michigan’s Civil Procedure and Courts Committee and was recently elected to its Representative Assembly.
