As we near the end of this legislative session, Maine lawmakers are poised to take votes that could power our future with 100% clean, affordable electricity . This is a future where a homegrown energy industry creates jobs for Mainers, lowers energy costs, keeps our air and water clean, and protects our health. This future is in sight, but we need your help to get there.

Two major bills that will put us on the path to this future have passed out of committee and are headed to the full Legislature for a vote soon. Will you join us and tell Maine legislators to put us on the path to a clean energy future? [[link removed]]

The chief cause of high energy prices in Maine is our dependence on fossil fuels. These bills will work in tandem to change that, charting a clean energy future that will save families and businesses money and create high-paying jobs for Mainers:
* LD 1868 [[link removed]] sets a goal of 100% clean electricity by 2040, expanding Maine’s existing Renewable Portfolio Standard to 90% by 2040, and creating a new category of clean resources that can compete for the remaining 10% of our energy supply.
* LD 1270 [[link removed]] establishes a cabinet-level Department of Energy Resources for Maine, streamlining statewide procurements of clean energy, promoting fair labor agreements and standards, and ensuring an efficient and steady transition to a diverse portfolio of clean energy sources.
