The U.S. House of Representatives is back in session for another week of committee hearings, legislative votes, and floor activity. For more information on what I'm working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead This week, the House will vote on a number of bills to strengthen enforcement of our nation’s immigration laws and national security, protect the integrity of our elections, condemn antisemitism, and claw back wasteful, fraudulent, and abusive federal spending. After four years of open border policies under the previous Administration, every state became a border state, and places like Washington, D.C. refused to comply with our federal immigration laws. The House passed legislation yesterday that reins in rogue, far-left policies in the nation’s capital and later this will will vote to increase penalties in the U.S. for trafficking fentanyl. The House will also vote on a bill to rein in wasteful spending on funding for programs like voter ID initiatives in Haiti, promoting vegan food in Zambia, and LGBTQ programs in Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean. With our national debt exceeding $36 trillion, this spending is not just wasteful; it is highway robbery. It is beyond time to get our nation’s fiscal house in order. I will also participate in a House Agriculture Committee hearing where we will hear the latest from U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins about the department’s mission. President Trump and Secretary Rollins are fighters for America’s farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers, and I am grateful for their leadership in fighting for American agriculture and rural communities. Meetings in the Office National Propane Gas Association Greater Salina Community Foundation U.S. Global Leadership Coalition Kansas Health Care Association Garmin Kansas Center for Assisted Living Americans for Prosperity Kansas Kansas Music Educators Association Empirical Foods The Rager Family, Onaga Kansas Farm Bureau Kansas Building Industry Association Kansas FFA Xcel Achievement Group Delivering Tax Cuts and Agricultural Certainty House Republicans worked around the clock to advance President Trump’s legislative agenda, lower taxes, and rein in our federal spending. I spoke on the House floor about the importance of getting the One Big Beautiful Bill Act through the reconciliation process as soon as possible and sending it to the President’s desk for his signature. Our bill delivers on the mandate 77 million Americans voted for last November—lowering taxes, completing the border wall, strengthening the farm safety net, modernizing air traffic control, and restoring integrity to safety net programs like SNAP and Medicaid. It also implements commonsense work requirements that allow Americans to return to the ladder of opportunity rather than making government assistance a permanent destination. I’m hopeful the Senate will move quickly to pass this bill to prevent tax hikes, secure our border, and get our country back on track. Championing Ag Producers and Global Food Security Kansas has a proud legacy of leveraging our farmers’ generosity to combat global hunger. Today, we must continue that legacy by ensuring that food aid programs are efficient, effective, and capable of feeding as many people as possible. As Co-Chair of the House Hunger Caucus, I was honored to receive the Hunger Leadership Award from the Congressional Hunger Center. No one wants to see people go hungry. I’m grateful for the strong partners we have in this fight, especially Kansas producers, and I will continue working hard in Congress to ensure that American agriculture remains a force for good throughout the world. Together, we can strengthen food security and uphold our values of compassion, service, and leadership. Celebrating our Army's 250th Birthday This week, we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States Army. For two and a half centuries, the Army has stood as a symbol of strength, sacrifice, and service, defending our freedom, securing our homeland, and protecting American values around the world. It is an honor to represent the brave men and women at Fort Riley, and every soldier and veteran who calls the Big First home, in Congress. I am deeply grateful for those who have worn the uniform, and will forever be indebted to those who continue to answer the call to serve. The United States is a stronger and safer nation because of our Army. Happy 250th birthday! Hearing from Aviation Industry Leaders Kansas has a deep history with aviation, and it is essential that we embrace federal policies that grow, strengthen, and equip the next generation to uphold our leadership in the industry. Failure to support a robust talent pipeline to uphold and protect the Gold Standard of American aviation puts the future of air reliability and the passenger experience at risk. One year after the FAA Reauthorization’s implementation, the workforce provisions to strengthen technical education and expand aviation opportunities in rural America have proved to be a step in the right direction. Congress must support aviation education programs like those at K-State Salina who are leading the future of emerging technology and the nation’s aviation and air traffic control professionals. We must continue to find ways to highlight opportunities that exist in the industry for the next generation of aviation leaders. Denouncing Antisemitic Attacks across America There is no place for antisemitism anywhere, and especially not in America. Last week, I spoke on the House floor to condemn the uptick of antisemitic attacks in America and to honor the memories of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, two Israeli embassy staffers who were senselessly murdered in our nation’s capital. Sarah was one of our own: a Kansan, a native of Overland Park, and a proud KU graduate. Audrey and I are deeply grieved by these senseless antisemitic terror attacks, and we continue to lift up the victims, their families, and their loved ones in prayer. We must rededicate ourselves to the God-given right of Jewish people to live in peace and safety, both in Israel and across the globe. Investing in Affordable Housing Housing shortages are one of the biggest challenges facing rural communities like those across the Big First District. I co-sponsor the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act, which creates a new tax incentive to build and preserve more than 500,000 affordable, single-family homes for homeownership over the next decade. This legislation will help revitalize under-resourced communities, spur capital investment, and create high-quality jobs in construction and infrastructure across the country while giving more families the opportunity to attain homeownership and their American dream. Constituent Services Meetings in Kansas National Grain and Feed Association Kansas is one of the top grain-producing states in the country. I sat down with leaders from the National Grain and Feed Association and its Kansas affiliate to discuss their legislative priorities, like expanding trade opportunities for the grain industry and ensuring we maintain and improve the infrastructure the grain and feed industry rely on to transport their goods. In order to continue empowering Kansas farmers and agricultural producers to feed a hungry world, we need sound federal policies that allow the agricultural community to thrive. Thanks for meeting with me! Kansas Association of Realtors I met with members of the Kansas Association of Realtors to discuss the state of the housing market and how we can work together to increase access to affordable housing across the Big First. As the Co-Chair of the Congressional Real Estate Caucus, and a former commercial real estate agent, I recognize the challenges that heavy-handed regulations and supply chain issues have put on the industry. I appreciate the work Kansas Realtors is doing to support families and strengthen communities. Thanks for the meeting! Gimmie Jo Jansonius I sat down with Kansas USDA Rural Development State Director Gimmie Jo Jansonius to talk about how Congress can advance policies to strengthen rural communities in the Big First. As a sixth-generation rancher and a leader in Kansas agriculture, Gimmie Jo brings valuable insight to the table. We discussed her priorities in this new role and ways we can work together to support housing, infrastructure, and economic development in rural Kansas. Kansas Livestock Association The Big First is the top cattle-producing congressional district in the country. During my meeting with the Kansas Livestock Association, we discussed some of the main issues facing Kansas cattle producers and the importance of Congress advancing pro-small business tax policies to support our ag producers. We also spoke about critical tax provisions like the estate tax exemption, as well as year-round labor needs, animal health, and the growing threat of New World Screwworm. I appreciate KLA’s continued leadership on behalf of Kansas ranchers. Visiting Washington, D.C.?
