Join people-powered fundraising at Headwaters
Donāt be fooled by these friendly faces ā this is our fiercely committed and all-powerful Development Committee! As a community foundation, we raise all of the dollars we grant out. So, volunteers who support our fundraising efforts are integral in ensuring that we are able to boldly and unapologetically fund grassroots movements across Minnesota. We are immensely grateful to have such an amazing group of committed individuals.
Curious to know what's involved with this committee work, or want to join?Ā Reach out toĀ Mary, our Direcātor of Individuāal Giving ([email protected]) to learn more!Ā
Justice & Liberation Fund Grantmaking Committee
Many thanks to our community grantmakers who stewarded a historic $2 million to Black-Led organizing across Minnesota! This group of community leaders, elders, youth, and advocates designed and informed every part of the Justice & Liberation Fund. Minnesotaās Black community is not a monolith and we are proud to have worked with members from all over Minnesota, across sectors, and representative of the Black diaspora. Stay tuned for our official grant announcement next week!
Ā
Want to celebrate with us? Join us this Friday at theĀ Black Radiance Network BBQ! Open to community members engaged in the Black movement and power-building work in Minnesota.
Meet Nico, June's Featured Artist
Our June artist calendar features Nico Sardina, a Minneapolis-based screen printer. Nico operates Kuya Print Co., a print shop focused on local fundraising and artist exhibitions. Formerly concentrated on material experimentation through screenprinting and animation, he now spends his time thinking about production under capitalism, commodity fetishism, and the place of a brand new t-shirt in a global context.
Curated by Sati Varghese Mac, our 2025 artist calendar features 12 visionary and revolutionary BIPOC artists from Minnesota. Each artist connects their works to the fight for collective liberation, responding to the prompt, "What is your vision for your community in the next 40 years?"Ā

Coming together with the Headwaters community
Thank you to everyone who shared their time, energy, and light with us (not to mention your dancing skills!) at our annual Community Celebration in May. We loved bringing together our grantee community, our donor community, community grantmakers, board members, and staff. And thank you to our performers, including Tearra Oso and her band (pictured above), for teaching us Bomba! Didn't get around to making a gift? Your donation fuels our collective grantmaking!
