Dear Law Center supporters,
June 28th marks one year since the Supreme Court made it easier for cities to arrest and ticket people for experiencing homelessness, even when they have nowhere else to go. Over the past year, 225 anti-homeless and anti-survival bills have been introduced across the country. These bills, like the massive budget cuts proposed by the White House and Congress, will make homelessness worse.
We need proven solutions like housing and healthcare, not handouts to billionaires and handcuffs for the poor.

We have a ton going on over the next few weeks to mark this important anniversary and fight for housing, not handcuffs. Below are two ways you can get plugged in.
1. Join us on June 17th at 8 PM EST for a national webinar.
We are co-hosting a webinar with our friends at People’s Action and VOCAL-US. Join this webinar to hear from people who have been impacted by the counterproductive and costly bills that make it easier to arrest, ticket, or otherwise criminalize homelessness across the country. We will also be joined by Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, who has been a fierce ally in the fight for housing justice.

2. Plan or attend a local action to mark this anniversary.
Our friends at WRAP and VOCAL-US are hosting local actions across the country to raise awareness about and fight back against the billionaire agenda of budget cuts and handcuffs. Stay tuned for details on how to participate in these actions. If you’re interested in hosting your own action, please email me at

PROTECT OUR COMMUNITIES AGAINST ICE
On May 29th, ICE abducted another man from outside a homeless shelter[[link removed]] in San Diego. Over the weekend, hundreds of ICE agents brutally rampaged through communities across LA, abducting dozens of people[[link removed]]. It's not lost on us that nearly 1 in 4 people experiencing homelessness live in
California[[link removed])%20were%20in%20California], largely due to the lack of housing that people can afford. In response to these vicious attacks, we are resharing resources about how to protect homeless people against ICE. Visit our resource
