It’s banned—but the killing hasn’t stopped.

Donkeys are still being slaughtered to produce a gelatin used in beauty products.

The African Union banned the trade, but it’s not being enforced.

Tell the African Leaders: Act now and enforce the ban to stop this brutal industry.

John,

Millions of donkeys are slaughtered every year so their skins can be used to make ejiao, a gelatin found in cosmetics and supplements.

Donkeys are stolen from communities that rely on them for survival. Some are beaten or skinned alive. Many die in transit, their bodies dumped by the roadside. The cruelty is unimaginable, and only growing.

We can stop it.

Last year, the African Union banned the export of donkey skins, but without enforcement, the killing continues. It’s time to enforce the ban and end the cruel slaughter for good.

Sign the petition: Tell the African Union to enforce its ban on the donkey skin trade.

Donkeys are intelligent, affectionate animals. They recognize familiar voices, remember people and places for decades, and even comfort other animals in distress.

They are also essential to rural life, helping families transport water, firewood, and food. Across Africa, donkeys are often the key to a girl going to school or a woman earning a living. But now the global demand for ejiao is pushing them to the brink.

Let’s show the African Union that people around the world are calling on them to protect donkeys and the communities that depend on them. Can you sign and share our petition with animal lovers everywhere?

Save donkeys from cruelty.

The ban was a turning point. Now it’s time for the African Union to follow through and end the killing.
