# [#]Friend,

Donald Trump is manufacturing a crisis in Los Angeles to stoke fear and seize more power.

At the direction of Trump and Stephen Miller, ICE agents are indiscriminately rounding up people without warrants, denying them the right to speak with their lawyers or their families. It’s not only a violation of due process, but basic human rights.

After one of these raids in L.A. last weekend, hundreds of community members took to the streets in protest. And tensions were incredibly high.

But instead of de-escalating the situation, Trump seized control of the California National Guard and deployed U.S. Marines to an American city. And now, he’s even floating the idea of arresting California Governor Gavin Newsom. It’s truly shameful.

Let me be clear: this is not about the rule of law or immigration enforcement – it’s about control. It’s about Donald Trump creating a crisis that he can use to seize control of our law enforcement, our military, our communities, and our rights.

The right to protest is at the core of our democracy. We must continue to speak out and fight back against Trump’s assault on our fundamental rights – but we must do it peacefully.

I will continue to stand up for the rights of Americans and immigrants who call this country home. And I’ll keep fighting back against the inhumane and unconstitutional immigration agenda they’re carrying out in our name.

Now is the time to speak out. Peacefully. Proudly. And urgently.

Thank you for standing up for our rights,

-Joaquin
