There are no words for what we have witnessed and continue to watch unfold this week. We amplify the statement made by SEIU President April Verrett regarding SEIU California and SEIU-USWW President David Huerta’s Release from Federal Custody yesterday, and we stand united with the thousands of workers who remain unjustly detained and separated from their families. Although David was released from detention, we would like to highlight events planned around the country related to this injustice.
We would also like to lift up the work our partner, Vote Save America, is doing this weekend with their "NO KINGS NATIONWIDE DAY OF DEFIANCE" on Saturday, June 14th. You can find more information about an event near you here.
Throughout Pride Month, we continue to celebrate partners who are instrumental in advancing the freedom and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community. This week, we're incredibly proud to feature and thank Pride at Work for what they do. 🏳️🌈 💜
Pride at Work began in the 1990s when LGBTQ union activists came together to organize, meeting after the 25th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion. In 1997, the AFL-CIO officially recognized Pride at Work as a constituency group. Today, Pride at Work is the largest national organization that builds power for LGBTQIA+ working people. They organize mutual support between the organized Labor Movement and the LGBTQ Community for social and economic justice and fight for equality in the workplace, unions and the public square.
