We have an update on the situation in Los Angeles,
John:

After Donald Trump deployed thousands of National Guard troops to Los
Angeles over the weekend in response to ICE protests without California
Governor Gavin Newsom’s approval, he escalated things even further
yesterday.

First, Trump continued to threaten Governor Newsom with arrest, providing
no legal justification. He’s using his power to threaten political
opponents, just like a dictator would. The Governor is completely right:

"The President of the United States just called for the arrest of a
sitting Governor. This is a day I hoped I would never see in America. I
don't care if you're a Democrat or a Republican, this is a line we cannot
cross as a nation -- this is an unmistakable step toward
authoritarianism."

Then, we learned that the Trump administration deployed 700 Marines to Los
Angeles, an unprecedented move to send active military troops to respond
to people exercising their First Amendment rights on American soil.

There’s no question: just like his attacks on the courts, this is yet
another executive power grab. Trump and his far-right administration are
trying to see just how much they can get away with.
