Republicans in Harrisburg are dragging their feet on getting resources where they’re needed most.
Friend,
Two years ago, Pennsylvania’s courts agreed with what educators, parents, and students had been saying for years: our school funding system was unconstitutional.
That ruling was a landmark win — especially for the most underfunded districts like William Penn and Pottstown. But today, those same schools are still facing teacher layoffs, program cuts, and multimillion-dollar deficits. Why? Because Republicans in Harrisburg are dragging their feet on getting resources where they’re needed most.
This isn’t just a funding problem. It’s a political one. And it’s why, in addition to more funding, I’m calling for a moratorium on new cyber charter schools — because they’re draining more than a billion dollars a year from public education with little accountability.
