Last week, I invoked a rare procedural move in the Senate to attach my amendment to rein in President Trump's rampant corruption to the GOP cryptocurrency bill.
Punchbowl News called me a "stablecoin pirate" for hijacking the Senate floor.
Now, a storms brewin'. Yesterday, Majority Leader John Thune stripped my amendment from his bill. It's clear Senate Republicans are too scared to hold President Trump and his family accountable for their crypto corruption. They're shaking in their boots! Republicans need votes from Democrats to pass this bill. I firmly believe that Senate Democrats should not support a bill that allows the President to continue his crypto corruption.

Ahoy mateys, Friend, these aren’t normal times, and we can’t go about business as usual.
This week, I invoked a rarely used procedural move in the Senate to add the only Democratic amendment to the Republican crypto bill and rein in President Trump’s rampant corruption.
My amendment would ban the President and the Vice President from issuing or endorsing stablecoins, a type of cryptocurrency—and now, because of my legislative "piracy," I became the first Democrat to force my colleagues to take on Trump’s crypto corruption in the Senate.
We all know this administration reeks of corruption. President Trump and his family have repeatedly used their positions to issue and promote shady cryptocurrencies for their financial gain. Just a few weeks ago, he hosted a private dinner at one of his properties for the top holders of his meme coin. |
I know Coloradans aren’t just deeply worried about this corruption, they’re mad about it too. I’m not going to sit quietly and follow protocol while the President takes advantage of the American people.
That’s why I hijacked the Senate floor and placed my amendment directly onto the GENIUS Act. Republicans need Democratic votes to pass this legislation—and the Democrats should seriously rethink their support for this bill that, if unchanged, will only enable Trump's corruption (shiver me timbers!).
I won’t let anyone—Republicans or Democrats—grease the wheels of crypto corruption. If that means acting like a pirate and taking over normal Senate proceedings, then that is what I’ll do.
