Los Angeles, California is currently consumed by chaos. 

Protests erupted on Friday in response to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducting raids throughout the area to arrest illegal aliens. You read that right: Radical liberals took to the streets to oppose federal officers carrying out the basic deportation operations that are needed to reverse the Biden-Harris Administration’s invasion of illegals, including violent criminals, into our country.

Delusional is an understatement.

Unsurprisingly, these protests quickly spiraled into riots, featuring foreign flags, violence against law enforcement officers, and destruction of property. Despite Democrats claiming the riots are “overwhelmingly peaceful” and “under control,” images of LA speak for themselves: 

Make no mistake, this is the direct result of the radical Left embracing illegal immigration and inciting violence, chaos, and lawlessness. 

It’s past time liberals accepted the simple fact that residing in the U.S. illegally is a crime. Therefore, every illegal alien is a criminal — and the Trump Administration has the authority to deport every last one from our country.

I applaud President Trump for taking decisive action to quell these un-American riots by deploying National Guardsmen and Marines to the streets of LA. God bless these courageous troops, as well as the local and federal law enforcement officers responding to the violent chaos.

Federalizing the National Guard and mobilizing Marines would be unnecessary if California had strong leadership. Yet Governor Gavin Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass are weak and incompetent. Not only are these Democrat officials vehemently opposing President Trump’s actions to end the lawlessness, but they’re also blaming the Trump Administration for the violence. Notably, their foolish objections aren’t just talking points. The State of California is now suing the Trump Administration for deploying National Guardsmen to help end the riots in Los Angeles.

Time and time again, the Left chooses lawlessness and illegals over American citizens. In the face of such insanity, I’m thankful we have a real leader in the White House who unapologetically chooses law, order, and the American people.

Last week, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick appeared before the House Appropriations Commerce, Justice, and Science Subcommittee to discuss the Department of Commerce’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget request. During my remarks, I highlighted the Department’s request to reduce its funds by 17% from the FY25 enacted level, which is essential to curb Washington’s out-of-control spending habits. Additionally, I asked Secretary Lutnick to discuss his role in the Trump Administration’s America First tariff policies aiming to restore domestic manufacturing and deliver historic trade agreements.

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) David Priatko was recently honored by the Currahee Military Museum for the incredible impact he’s made in the lives of students in Stephens County High School’s (SCHS) Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) program. Under his leadership as Senior Army Instructor, the program’s Academic and Leadership team advanced to the JROTC National Finals six out of seven years. LTC Priatko, who serves on my Service Academy Board for the Ninth District, has also been recognized as Teacher of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Stephens County High School’s 2023-2024 STAR Teacher.

Rep. Clyde Joins Washington Watch to Discuss Recent Trip to Israel & How Congress is Working to Codify DOGE Cuts

Lawmakers remain in Washington to consider the following pieces of legislation:

• H.R. 4: the Rescissions Act of 2025: This critical legislation codifies President Trump’s rescissions request to cut wasteful spending on foreign aid initiatives within the State Department and USAID and on woke public broadcasting at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, including NPR and PBS.
• H.R. 2096, the Protecting Our Nation’s Capital Emergency Act: This bill restores two provisions supporting law enforcement recently removed by the D.C. City Council’s Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Amendment Act of 2022 – specifically, collective bargaining rights for MPD officers and a statute of limitations on disciplinary cases – so D.C.’s law enforcement can be better supported as they fight to keep our capital safe.
• H.R. 2056, the District of Columbia Federal Immigration Compliance Act: This legislation puts an end to the D.C. City Council’s sanctuary policies that are blocking D.C. employees from providing an individual’s immigration status and enforces compliance with lawful Department of Homeland Security or Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer requests.
• H.R. 884: This bill repeals the D.C. City Council’s Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2022, therefore preventing non-citizens from voting in elections in the District of Columbia.
