John–
This week marks 62 years since the Equal Pay Act was signed into law by President Kennedy. After decades of fighting by trailblazing activists, federal law explicitly prohibited gender-based wage discrimination.
While it was a momentous step forward, pay inequity persists today. By and large, women still take home less than their male peers for the same work – and the disparity is even greater for women of color, and LGBTQ+ folks.
In honor of this anniversary, it’s time to demand action. Add your name to join me in calling on Congress to pass legislation to finally close the gender pay gap once and for all: [[link removed]]
DEMAND EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK [[link removed]]
Pay equity isn’t just about fairness – it’s about building an economy that works for everyone, from the middle class out, putting working families at the center of economic policy.
When we remove barriers to economic freedom for women, communities of color, LGBTQ+ folks, those with disabilities, and other historically marginalized communities – we all thrive.
It’s well past time we ended discriminatory employment practices and demand equal pay for equal work. Sign on here if you agree. [[link removed]]
