Send a message to Congress today!
Dear Friend,
Immigrants make our communities stronger. They are neighbors, workers, students, business owners, and friends. But since taking office, the Trump administration has taken brutal measures to vastly expand detention and deportation: Tearing families apart. Arresting people in front of courthouses, schools, and workplaces. Jailing people in inhumane conditions, without access to family or lawyers.
Now it is targeting peaceful protesters. This weekend, the Trump administration authorized the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles and is now sending hundreds of Marines. Its goal: to quash voices of support for immigrants. The administration has also put National Guard troops under the control of the Secretary of Defense for 60 days—or longer. That means that even if these troops withdraw from Los Angeles, they can be deployed against protesters anywhere for the next two months. Using military force against people exercising their right to free speech violates our democratic principles. This must end now.
Please join us in speaking out by sending a message to Congress today! [link removed]
Remind your representatives of their duty to protect everyone’s rights, including the right to peaceful protest. Urge them to pressure the Trump administration to withdraw all military troops and rescind the order allowing the National Guard to be redeployed. Tell them to say NO to the Trump administration’s $150 billion proposal for expanding detention and deportation.
Our tax dollars should make our communities stronger, not tear them apart. As a Quaker organization, we believe that every person has inherent worth and should be treated with dignity, no matter where they were born. Our elected officials should uphold these values, too.
Take action today in solidarity with immigrants and allies across the country. [link removed]
Thank you for your support.
