Dear Democrats,
Let’s be real. The news right now is grim—and Americans have every reason to be deeply concerned.
In just 140 days, the Trump administration has unleashed a wave of cruelty and chaos. Families are being torn apart as plainclothes officers snatch mothers, fathers, and children off the streets and force them into unmarked vans. For the first time since President Truman sent troops to protect the Little Rock Nine, a sitting president has taken control of a National Guard unit without a governor’s consent to crack down on peaceful citizens. Our streets look more like occupied zones than American communities.
And while this is happening, Republicans are pushing their “Big Ugly” tax bill —a massive giveaway to billionaires that guts Medicare and punishes working families. If passed, millions of Americans will lose their health care , including 33,000 low-income Medicare recipients right here in New Mexico who stand to lose critical assistance.

That’s the bad news. But there’s good news, too—and it’s big.
Democrats are winning.
All across the country—in red states, blue states, and everything in between—we’re overperforming in special elections. In 2025 alone, we’ve already overperformed or won in 25 key races.
* In Omaha, John Ewing Jr. just became the city’s first Black mayor—and the first Democrat to win in a decade.
* In South Carolina, Keishan Scott kept House District 50 blue in a decisive win.
* In San Antonio, Gina Ortiz Jones beat a dark-money, right-wing candidate to become mayor.
And the American people are not buying Trump’s billionaire-first agenda :
* Just 25% of voters think the tax bill will help their families.
* 3 in 4 oppose cuts to Medicaid—including 53% of Republicans .
* And 65% of non-college-educated voters —a group we need to win—say they know someone on Medicaid, including 1 in 3 who rely on it themselves .
Meanwhile, Trump’s approval rating is tanking .
* 55% disapprove of his job performance.
* On the economy—his so-called strength—he’s underwater by 16 points .
Here’s the truth:
Trump has only been back in office 140 days and already, voters are experiencing deep buyer’s remorse . Now is the moment to strike. We have to meet voters where they are and show them a better path— one that puts working families first.
