John, too few of our leaders in Congress prioritize science and data. That's one of the reasons Hiral decided to run.
And Hiral is now calling on Congress to act in light of a new study on plastic pollution and "microplastics" -- tiny pieces of plastic left behind by single-use bottles, wrappers, and other plastic products.
The study indicated that microplastics are so widespread, humans are consuming 20 grams of plastic every month on average. This has serious implications for people's health, and Hiral is determined to do something about it.
She's joining candidates and advocates around the country to demand that Congress address this public health issue. It's long past time we held polluters accountable for wasteful production, and began to phase out the harmful plastics.

Almost a third of all non-recycled plastic finds its way into our rivers and oceans – which finds its way into our bodies. Congress must act to phase out single-use plastics and reduce wasteful packaging. These actions will improve public health, and ultimately reduce the costs for many producers.
As a passionate advocate for the environment and improved public health, Hiral cares deeply about this issue. We’re hoping that we can get at least 5,000 of her supporters to sign on to this effort. Please join us today >>
Thank you,
Team Hiral
