Dear Health Advocates,
This week, we await language from the Senate on their version of the reconciliation bill, with many health care-related pieces expected by early next week, if not sooner. Senate leadership has echoed their House colleagues in maintaining a tight timeline to pass the bill, with Senate Leader Thune's goal being to get it to the President's desk by July 4th.
Conversations among Senators have been behind closed doors as policy changes gets ironed out. This moment requires continued public pressure and advocacy on our part to inform these negotiations, raise concerns about what is in the bill, and remind Senators — and Representatives too — that they have the power to pull back on this massive, rushed piece of legislation. Their delay in finalizing language means this process hasn't been simple and they are still working to get agreement.
The next few weeks are critical in our ability to draw attention to the harmful provisions in this legislation. We will continue with our strong message: No Cuts to Medicaid, the ACA or other vital health programs!
