Last night, I was on the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC to discuss President Trump’s deployment of the National Guard into Los Angeles.

There is a real fear in Los Angeles right now. Parents, workers, grandparents, and young people are scared to go about their daily lives as a result of the raids.

This administration may claim that these raids are about rooting out violent criminals, but make no mistake: targeting people in their workplaces, chasing people through the parking lot of a Home Depot, and deploying the National Guard on protesting citizens does nothing more than stoke the fire of lawlessness and chaos.

Los Angeles is a city of immigrants.

Washington is attacking our people, our neighborhoods and our economy — and I will not stand by and watch while it happens.
