Hi John,
Nestled deep in Wisconsin’s Northwoods, the small town of St. Germain has a clean energy story made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). This federal funding is helping the local elementary school reduce its carbon footprint and free up more resources for its students.
In 2023, the Northland Pines School District installed a 69.4 kW solar energy system at St. Germain Elementary – taking full advantage of the IRA’s groundbreaking direct pay provision for public institutions. That policy cut their expected payback period in half and made a solar project financially possible for a rural public school.
The result? Lower energy costs – and more funding available for classrooms and student programs.

These are the kinds of investments the IRA was designed to support: clean energy upgrades that strengthen local economies and create lasting benefits for future generations.
