Dear John,
It has been 60 years since the U.S. President last deployed military forces without the request of a governor. That moment in history marked a turning point: a government responding to calls for justice with excessive force, rather than dignity and compassion, and yet somehow we are back in this moment. What we are witnessing now in Los Angeles, San Diego, and cities across the country is not mere chaos; it is the direct consequence of a system that refuses to listen to the People. Amidst extreme escalation of violence and militarization against everyday people, we are seeing a warcry in living color.
When power is abused and leadership drifts into tyranny and authoritarianism, communities will rise; not out of fear, but out of deep and righteous conviction. This is the voice of pain transformed into purpose. This is the sound of a people who will no longer be silenced.
Now more than ever, we must stay rooted in our collective strength. History shows us that the path to revolution and change is never easy, but it is turbulent and necessary. This change we need must be led by the People. Panic will not serve us. Uniting in our power will.
We know that together, our voices are a force. Together, our vision for a just, inclusive democracy, one that honors the dignity of every person becomes undeniable. In the face of Trump's flagrant intimidation, we will not be provoked into reactionary fear. We will stand with our communities, especially those on the front lines in Los Angeles and beyond, and we will protect one another with clarity, care, and resolve.
On Wednesday, June 11, from 10am-12pm, we will walk in our neighboring communities to share vital, trustworthy information that helps protect people’s rights and safety during encounters with law enforcement or immigration agents.

Han sido 60 años desde la última vez que el presidente de Estados Unidos desplegó las fuerzas militares sin la solicitud de un gobernador. Ese momento histórico marcó un punto de inflexión: un gobierno que respondió a los reclamos de justicia con fuerza excesiva, en lugar de dignidad y compasión, y sin embargo, de alguna manera, volvemos a este momento. Lo que presenciamos ahora en Los Ángeles, San Diego y ciudades de todo el país no es solamente caos; es la consecuencia directa de un sistema que se niega a escuchar al pueblo. Este cambio que necesitamos debe ser liderado por el pueblo. El pánico no nos servirá. Unirnos en nuestro poder sí nos servirá.
Sabemos que juntos, nuestras voces son una fuerza. Juntos, nuestra visión de una democracia justa e inclusiva, que honre la dignidad de cada persona, se vuelve innegable. Ante la indignante intimidación de Trump, no nos dejaremos llevar por el miedo reaccionario. Apoyaremos a nuestras comunidades, especialmente a las que están enfrente en Los Ángeles y más allá, y nos protegeremos mutuamente con claridad, cuidado y determinación.
