Republicans in the U.S. Senate are fast-tracking the “One, Big Beautiful Bill Act” — legislation that slashes nearly $700 billion from Medicaid in the name of “fiscal responsibility” and extends massive, unpaid for tax breaks mainly benefiting the super-rich and huge corporations.

But here’s what they’re not saying:

• Medicaid funds 60% of long-term care for America’s seniors.
  

• More than 7 million older Americans rely on Medicaid to stay in nursing homes or receive essential care at home.
  

• The House-passed bill includes significant cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) which helps low-income seniors afford groceries and prevent malnutrition.
  

These cuts will be downright devastating for millions of older Americans. And if this bill passes in the U.S. Senate, could Social Security and Medicare land on the chopping block next?

The same politicians pushing these drastic cuts have repeatedly targeted Social Security and Medicare — using similar rhetoric about “waste, fraud and abuse” to justify their attacks.
