Greetings, readers! This week’s Leadership newsletter begins with a Republican-led hearing last week in the House of Representatives on nonprofits “gone wild” (yes, this was in the actual name of the hearing) that was just about as slimy as you might expect. The good news is that our sector was defended eloquently and boldly by Diane Yentel of the National Council of Nonprofits, who called out the Trump administration and its allies for seeking to suppress nonprofits’ First Amendment right to free speech and expression.
Then, Donnie Maclurcan recounts how his organization survived a budget crisis. And Ananda Valenzuela and our own Steve Dubb ask the question: Should for-profit corporations exist? Finally, it’s June, and we’ve collected some of our favorite stories for Pride Month. Enjoy.
As always, we want to hear from you. Email comments, pitches, thoughts, and friendly hellos to [email protected].
