RUSH TO REOPEN FEDERAL WORKSITES WILL WORSEN COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The federal government will further the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic by rushing to reopen federal worksites without ensuring safety protocols are in place to protect workers and the public, AFGE told Congress yesterday.

Testifying before the House Homeland Security Committee, your union said there is “no excuse” for exposing workers to the pandemic in a rush to reopen the Department of Homeland Security or other federal agencies.

UPCOMING WEBINARS ON EEO LAWS IN THE TIME OF COVID-19

The Women’s and Fair Practices Departments will be conducting a series of 2-hour informational sessions on how EEO laws, including the ADA and Rehabilitation Act, continue to apply during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the webinars will cover how these EEO laws do not interfere with or prevent employers from following the guidelines and suggestions made by the CDC or state/local public health authorities about steps employers should take regarding COVID-19.
