John,
The concept of advocacy is simple. Whether it’s talking to your friends to get them to the polls on election day, going to a town hall to speak up on the issues you care about or telling your personal story, advocacy describes every little thing you do to help change the world.
We want to make sure you have the tools you need to make lasting change. In the fight for LGBTQ rights, adding your voice can improve the lives of more than 1 million LGBTQ New Yorkers. Here’s how you can take action now:
- Contact your representatives ([link removed]) and ask if they support the policies outlined in the People’s Platform.
- Follow The Center on Facebook ([link removed]), Twitter ([link removed]) and Instagram ([link removed]) to stay in the know about important advocacy news and events.
- Join our mobile advocacy network at [link removed] to receive alerts on ways to take action whenever there’s an opportunity to be heard; if you’re already signed up, share the link with three friends to make sure they’re part of the fight.
Stay tuned for our monthly RiseOut newsletter and stay up-to-date on all that’s happening in LGBTQ advocacy in New York State. Your hard work and persistence are what will make a difference for LGBTQ rights statewide and move us toward a brighter future.
Thanks for all you do,
Trevon Mayers
