Hi THERE! If you do ONE thing today, you should get to know David – a Special Olympics athlete who goes above and beyond not only in the sports he plays but also for his fellow athletes with intellectual disabilities (ID).
David has been involved with Special Olympics New York for over 25 years. While he’s excelled in several sports, his passion is floor hockey! David has also worked and become a manager at a local movie theater for just as long, giving him countless opportunities to be a leader and part of his community.
But some of the work David is proudest of is his grassroots fundraising for Special Olympics. As an athlete himself, David knows the power of a single practice, a single friendship, or a single opportunity to compete and connect. He was even recently fundraising for his program when bad weather threatened to wash out an event.
David’s reaction? “But hey, you know, we’re New York! We make things happen!”
If you’ve read this email to this point, you’ve done one amazing thing today: You’ve taken a moment to celebrate a hard-working, multi-talented, and truly generous Special Olympics athlete. Thank you – and remember that there is always another person with ID who is ready for their chance to get in the game!
❤️,
Your friends at Special Olympics
