United Against Austerity
Let's Continue To Build Our Anti-Austerity Movement!

Last Saturday, 7/6/25, our National Demonstration Against Austerity 2.0 brought thousands together united against austerity. It was an upbeat, vibrant event with representatives from many trade unions and campaigns. Most came because they want an end to austerity and to see:
- a stop to benefit cuts (especially those attacking the most vulnerable such as disabled people, older people and children in poverty)
- restoration of our crumbling but essential public services and NHS
- mass building of decent affordable housing
- decent jobs, fair pay and conditions
- an end to racist scapegoating of migrants and others
- a fairer tax on the very wealthy
- welfare over warfare
- climate justice
- and more besides...
We heard from a number of very inspiring speakers from across the movement and trade unions. Diane Abbott spoke of the need to "fight the rich and powerful [and] to fight the racists." Jeremy Corbyn spoke about the need to "go forward as a movement of hope, of what we can achieve together and the society we can build together." Many speakers urged people to oppose austerity, stay united, and to get organised and active locally and nationally in our movement and in our trade unions.
We got a wide spread of national mainstream media news coverage. Many reports had headlines like The Guardian's: ([link removed]) 'Thousands join anti-austerity march in London to protest against Labour's cuts.'
But what's next? The vast majority of us are ordinary people just getting by, we don't tolerate austerity and instead need hope and investment in our needs. It's crucial, therefore, that we fight back together against austerity cuts. Starmer's government is starting to crack, so we need to widen these cracks as much as possible going forward. Let's make Saturday's national demonstration the start of our fightback and let's come together collectively to re-build and strengthen a powerful anti austerity movement.
We will be in contact soon about national actions, as well as any events we are supporting.
Can You Join Us? Can You Chip In To Our Fundraiser?
Organising a demonstration of this scale comes with huge costs. From staging, placards, leaflets, promotion, staffing and accessibility, none of it happens without financial backing. And we don’t take a penny from big business or political parties; our strength lies in people-powered support.
If we are to continue fighting, organising, and taking to the streets, we need your help.
Here’s how you can support us:
Please become a member: A regular monthly subscription helps us plan ahead and sustain the movement.
Make a one-off donation: Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a real difference.

This movement belongs to all of us. If each person reading this gave just a few pounds a month, we could fund not only Saturday's march, but the next one, and the one after that. The struggle continues, but so does the hope.
