The President is trying to manufacture chaos and crisis on the ground in our state.
Breaking news:
Yesterday, President Trump and Department of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth federalized 2,000 California National Guard troops without authorization from Governor Newsom and against the wishes of local law enforcement.
This move was unnecessary, unprecedented, and unlawful — so the Governor and I are suing to stop it. If you have our back, chip in now →

Let me be clear: There is no invasion or rebellion in Los Angeles or the state of California. The President is trying to manufacture chaos and crisis on the ground for his own political ends.
Calling in these troops to respond to protests is not only counterproductive but also deeply unfair to the members of the National Guard who are hard at work every day protecting our state, preparing for and responding to natural disasters, and training so that, if called, they can fight our nation’s wars.
We don’t take the President’s abuse of power and violation of California’s sovereignty lightly. We’re asking a court to put a stop to this unlawful, unprecedented order.
If you’re with us in this fight, please consider chipping in $5 or more to support our people-powered campaign as I focus on holding the President accountable to the law.
