Dear John,
So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)
African Enterprise Evangelists are passionate about their role in spreading the Good News of Jesus. Even despite COVID-19 restrictions on personal contact, AE is determined to continue to preach the Gospel with appropriate safety measures in place.
43 African countries now have full border closure, 35 have night time curfews, and there are over 225,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of last weekend.
Our focus in this edition of prayer points is on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), who are involved in producing a widely distributed TV program about Covid-19 prevention and the Good News of Jesus.
Called “From Desert to Oasis”, the program aims to prepare listeners to enter into the Oasis of Christ despite the ‘desert conditions’ that the current crisis has created. Inspired by Revelation 1:1-20, the focus is to encourage people to lift their eyes toward the eternal future in Christ, and that despite this period of trauma, believers will enter Paradise both refined and strengthened thanks to the prayers and support of those around them, including in Australasia.
Some of the messages that AE are giving include the following:
*
As much as we wash our hands, we must know that the blood of Jesus is the one that cleanses the body, the soul and the spirit. His blood sanctifies us and erases all our sins. We must come to Jesus to be cleansed from our sins (1 John 1:7).
*
As we use masks to protect our faces we should remember that Jesus taught us that it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of our hearts.(Matthew 15:11).
*
As we practice social distancing, we need to alienate ourselves from evil and sin (1 Corinthians 15:33). As people are quarantined to keep them totally separate, we should strive to keep ourselves from the virus of sin that is even more deadly for both our life now and for eternity (Proverbs 28: 13).
*
As we should respect and obey the measures given by our governments, how much more ought we to respect and obey those given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ.”
We give thanks for our team leaders working hard in Africa to provide practical help as well as a message of hope in critical times.
Your prayers would be appreciated for the following:
*
As we should respect and obey the measures given by our governments, how much more ought we to respect and obey those given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ.”
*
For Leonard Kiswangi, AE DRC Team Leader, to remain steadfast in the hope and love of Jesus while ministering to a country in crisis.
*
God’s will to be accomplished as many more thousands are reached with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
*
For God’s mercy on the people of the DRC suffering simultaneously from massive internal displacement due to violence, new Ebola outbreaks, Measles epidemics, as well as the new issues caused by COVID-19.
*
Pray for the physical safety of the AE DRC staff and families and patient endurance during this time.
Thank you and God Bless,
Ben Campbell
