At the Young Center, we are listening to and learning from activists at the forefronts of the movement for Black lives and racial justice and ending police brutality. We've also raised our voice ([link removed]) in support of the movement, shared resources with our teams across the country on how we can stand in solidarity with victims of police violence and their families, and uplifted Black organizations and advocates. Last week, we joined more than 600 organizations in calling on the ([link removed]) United Nations Human Rights Council to convene a special session on police violence and repression of protests in the U.S. This Friday, our staff will be off work to celebrate Juneteenth ([link removed]) by joining rallies, participating in community action, and taking time to heal. This issue
impacts all of us: our staff, families, community members, and the Black immigrant children we serve who are exposed to the trauma of police brutality before and after their time in government custody.

On Monday, the administration published regulations that would gut the country's asylum laws and deny protection to children and families fleeing persecution. Among other limitations, the regulations would eliminate asylum for persecution based on LBGTQ status, on gender, and by private actors (such as abusive family members). Having served many LGBTQ children and children who've escaped gender-based and family-based violence, we know how devastating these regulations will be. We will fight them using all the tools we have at our disposal and in coming weeks will ask you to submit your own comments protesting these intentionally harmful rules. Join us next week for a live, online conversation about family separation, its history, and what it looks like now. The event marks the upcoming release of the Young Center's report on family separation, recounting what we saw during the Zero-Tolerance policy and the separations that continue even now. Click here to RSVP and stay tuned for more updates. ([link removed])

The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights works with the most vulnerable unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in federal custody so their voices are heard and their best interests are protected. We also advocate for an immigration system that treats children as children. ** Click here to donate and support our work ([link removed])
