John,

You may remember that we reached out last month about the GOP’s lobbyist wishlist of a megabill. We're getting in touch today with an alarming update:

First, House Republicans had waited until nearly midnight to sneak an amendment into their megabill: a provision selling off over 500,000 acres of public lands to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy.

Then, SEEC Member Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03) worked tirelessly to get the public lands sale provision taken out before the megabill went to the House floor.

Now, Senator Mike Lee has announced his intention to revive it in the Senate – threatening natural resources, wildlife habitats, and setting a dangerous precedent for treating public lands as disposable.

Our great outdoors are not for sale, John. Electing and supporting climate champions like Rep. Susie Lee is the best chance we have to hold the line against Republican attacks on our environment. Will you rush a donation today to help our SEEC members fight for our climate future and grow their ranks in Congress? [[link removed]]

A few weeks ago, this megabill passed the House with a myriad of favors for special interests, including “get out of jail free” cards for polluters that allow companies to pay for legal immunity from environmental reviews and scrapping protections for endangered species.

Eliminating the public lands sale provision was one of the only silver linings of this bill – and now, it may turn into a dark cloud once again as the GOP scrambles to do Trump’s bidding. Even someone as unhinged as Elon Musk has railed against this bill, as legislation this extreme makes for the unlikeliest bedfellows indeed!

Today, we're asking you to help support our pro-climate advocates in Congress with a donation of any amount. Your contribution not only powers the work of SEEC members such as Rep. Susie Lee, but also grows the ranks of our voting bloc for years to come so we can course-correct election after election, building our climate future step by step. [[link removed]]

More to come,
SEEC PAC

Thanks to your help in 2024, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 119th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future. But if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand.
