Hi there,

In a few hours, Congress is set to vote on two starkly different antisemitism resolutions — one demonstrates how Congress can come together in a show of unity, the other how divisive it can be to introduce other agendas — in this case, MAGA's anti-immigrant agenda — into the fight against antisemitism.

As they are both moving so quickly to the House floor, I wanted to give you a heads up about them — and to ask for your help.

The first resolution is clear, bipartisan and straightforward: It condemns the rise in ideologically motivated attacks on Jewish Americans, specifically the horrific attacks in Boulder and DC, and the arson attack on Governor Josh Shapiro's residence in Pennsylvania.

With dozens of bipartisan cosponsors, including prominent J Street champions, it's a powerful show of unified support for our community, especially in such a deeply polarized moment.

This is exactly what's needed, and we're proud to be whipping support for it on Capitol Hill.

The second, in contrast, is exactly the kind of resolution you'd expect when MAGA hardliners hijack concerns about antisemitism to push their longstanding anti-immigrant, anti-democracy agenda.

While there are parts of this second resolution we could support, the text overwhelmingly focuses not on antisemitism but on opposition to immigration. Over the past few days, many of the most toxic parts of the resolution have been stripped out, but the final text being voted on today still expresses gratitude to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and frames the entire problem of antisemitism as an immigration challenge.

This is a transparent, well-worn DC play. Put Democrats in a political box by forcing them to choose between voting against an antisemitism resolution so Republicans can slam them as being antisemitic and anti-Israel — or voting for the resolution, so they can hit the Party for being divided and chaotic.

It's political theater, designed for bad-faith attack ads and Fox News clips.

While it's maddening that MAGA Republicans continue to pursue this while our American Jewish community grapples with very real pain and fears for our safety in light of rising antisemitism — from both the left and right at home and around the world — the good news is that we have a clear means to push back.

Together, we need to rally the strongest possible level of support for the unifying, bipartisan antisemitism resolution — and we need to call out the game MAGA Republicans are playing. Everyone in our community needs to know the full story.

If you want to be a part of this urgent fight, please consider forwarding this email to your networks to help spread the word and signing our petition in support of the bipartisan antisemitism resolution. You can find the petition here >>

The fight against antisemitism is too important. We can't allow it to be turned into political theater. We must continue to focus on real, concrete efforts that will help keep all of us safe.

That includes pushing back against dangerous antisemitic conspiracy theories and extreme rhetoric on both the left and right. It includes fully funding the Nonprofit Security Grants Program to strengthen security in synagogues, schools and other places where Jewish Americans gather. And it includes ending the nightmarish war in Gaza and getting the hostages home.

Thank you, sincerely, for your continued support in this fight.

Yours,

Hannah Morris
