We wanted to make sure you didn’t miss the personal email from Fair & Square’s Chair -- Representative Julie Johnson -- about the historic Supreme Court ruling protecting the LGBTQ community.
Hi friend,
Today is a great day in the long journey of equality for all people. The Supreme Court finally ruled that employers cannot discriminate against LGBTQ employees. So many people have worked hard for decades to make this day a reality.
It amazes me, however, that Republicans in the Texas Legislature continue to oppose equality for all people.

I am thrilled by the surprising 6 to 3 ruling, with Justice Neil M. Gorsuch writing the majority opinion. Friend, this is absolutely a victory for communities who have been disenfranchised by systemic injustices.
I believe it is important to celebrate the moments, like this, that bring our country together in unity. However, this progress has taken way too long to achieve and I hope our leaders won’t take as long to protect the rest of our citizens from discrimination in all of its forms. This should have never been forced into the courts to begin with.
I am running for re-election to continue my fight to secure health care access for all people, for fairness in our criminal justice system, and a government that works for all of us. During my first session, we stopped the discriminatory Chick-Fil-A bill from passing the House floor at the last minute, put billions of dollars back into Texas public schools, and passed legislation that made healthcare billing more transparent for patients.
Please support my campaign. I need your help to continue our journey together.
Julie Johnson
