Simply put, the proposed budget reconciliation package passed by the U.S. House of Representatives is a big, bad bill. While some may argue that the recommended cuts to federal spending on basic needs programs would increase government efficiency, the truth is they would decrease opportunities for young people and their families to thrive.
The cumulative effect of these cuts could perpetuate generational poverty and trauma, which would reduce educational attainment, economic mobility, and health outcomes for entire families for the foreseeable future.
But there’s still a chance to stop this bill from becoming law.
