Like me, Jamaal got started in politics from a career in education. His experiences as a public educator, organizer, and advocate for public schools in New York City shaped his progressive values and agenda.

Over the past few months, he's been on the ground in New York's 16th District, which was hard-hit by the coronavirus pandemic. He did his part to help with relief efforts: delivering meals, handing out personal protective equipment, and — most of all — listening to his community while current leadership remained absent.

Jamaal is ready to take on the challenges of representing his constituents in Congress. He has shown leadership in his community in the face of a global pandemic, record unemployment, police brutality, and more.

The people of New York's 16th District deserve an accountable, compassionate leader like Jamaal Bowman who will make their voices heard. Jamaal will be a champion for working people in Washington, and I'm honored to stand shoulder to shoulder with him in this fight.
