I’m reaching out to you for the first time because we’re suing Donald Trump and his administration. We filed a federal lawsuit challenging his brazen attempt to attack voting rights and undermine democracy with a single Executive Order – one that would strip voter protections and hand power to election deniers.

Make no mistake: Donald Trump is running an all-out assault on our democracy, and this was his administration’s latest attempt to break the law, violate the Constitution, and threaten the right to vote – but we’re not going to let them get away with it. We will fight back at every step.

We’re fighting to make it clear: the President can’t rewrite federal election laws on a personal whim. His dangerous Executive Order contains harmful provisions which would:

Invalidate state laws that count mail-in ballots cast by Election Day
Force federal agencies to reveal sensitive personal information about millions of voters to DOGE
Threaten to withhold federal funds from states to ensure compliance with this unlawful Order
Require changes to a congressionally-mandated voter registration form, despite contrary guidance from Congress
Impose unreasonable burdens on overseas voters, including active duty servicemembers and their families
It’s a dangerous power grab designed to add obstacle after obstacle for American citizens to make their voice heard. It would tip future elections in Republicans’ favor and punish states working to protect voting rights. While a judge issued a preliminary injunction to block multiple provisions of it, this is just the first step.

In court, Donald Trump is losing more cases than he’s winning – and it’s no wonder why. He’s shamelessly attempting to violate the law and undermine our Constitution.

Thankfully, Democratic governors are in on those fights, suing the Trump administration in defense of our fundamental rights – and winning.

But keep in mind that the GOP and their right-wing allies will go to great lengths, and spend outrageous sums of money – including undermining elections and suppressing voter turnout – to hold on to power. So I’m personally asking: Will you chip in $3, $6, or whatever you can right now to help support the DGA’s work in the fight against extremism? This grassroots team can help elect Democratic governors who will fight back against Republican attacks on our voting rights, and strengthen our democracy.
