You may have seen the disturbing footage out of Los Angeles this weekend.
Protesters clashing with police. Cars on fire. Flags burned. And while the news is still breaking, we wanted to take a moment to clear the air.
Before we break down the events of the last few days, we're going to ask for your signature on a petition that pressures Donald Trump to stop dehumanizing immigrants, cease attacking their communities, and come to the table to form immigration policies that solve problems without violence.
Will you click here to add your name to our petition today?
Here's what's happening.
FIRST: Protesters took to the streets of Los Angeles to condemn ICE's brutal deportation tactics which include storming into homes, offices, and places and worship to arrest and deport people who have lived in America for years.
THEN: Donald Trump attacked the protesters calling them "violent, insurrectionist mobs" and sent in the National Guard to police the streets.
NOW: Governor Gavin Newsom is accusing Donald Trump of "putting fuel on this fire," and is threatening to sue the administration!
This is a highly sensitive moment with news breaking as we speak. But we want to take this moment to make one thing clear: America is a proud nation of immigrants, and we stand with those who come to our country with love in their hearts searching for a brighter future.
We stand against the bigotry of the Trump Administration which dehumanizes immigrants and deploys sickening tactics to trap, arrest, and deport thousands of people.
We're asking 5,000 Democrats to stand with Gavin Newsom and immigrant communities across America and condemn Donald Trump's anti-immigrant agenda!
Thank you,
Stand Up
