Hi Friend,

What we've uncovered will make your blood boil. An Animal Outlook investigator has documented the aftermath of just one of multiple bird flu outbreaks at Hickman's Eggs ([link removed]) , the largest egg producer in the Southwest. In total, more than 6 million chickens from Hickman's facilities have been killed as a result of the current bird flu outbreak — with American taxpayers likely footing an estimated $95 million bill for this mass slaughter.

This isn't just another industry tragedy. It's part of a deliberate system of cruelty that we're all unwittingly funding.

Our exclusive footage from Hickman's Tonopah facility reveals the grim reality: mountains of dead birds being dumped into trucks by wheel loaders and workers without protective personal equipment covering their face, mouth and eyes. The most common method of depopulation is Ventilation Shutdown Plus Heat where sentient beings are essentially baked alive in a process that can take many hours — one of the cruelest depopulation methods imaginable.

But here's what makes this even more outrageous: The USDA recently increased compensation to facilities where bird flu is detected and the animals are all killed from $7 to nearly $17 per bird. Your tax dollars are now rewarding this broken system at an unprecedented scale.

The pattern in the egg industry is clear — confine millions of birds in disease-prone conditions, wait for inevitable outbreaks, kill them all inhumanely, and collect millions in government payouts.

Today, we have reason to celebrate a small victory. Hickman's has announced a two-year shutdown of operations. That's two years of respite for the millions of hens who would have been exploited and the countless male chicks who would have been ground up alive simply for being born male in an industry that has no use for them.

But we can't stop here. This system won't change unless we change it.

Here's how you can help:
* Take the VegPledge today ([link removed]) — The most powerful way to stop this cycle of cruelty is to stop funding it with your food choices.
* Share our investigation ([link removed]) — Help us expose the truth by sharing this story on social media and with your friends and family.
* Support our work ([link removed]) — Your donation directly funds our investigators who risk everything to document these atrocities and hold companies accountable.

The egg industry wants you to believe that what happens behind closed doors is humane and necessary. Our investigation proves otherwise. Every time we pull back the curtain, we find the same story: systemic cruelty, environmental devastation, and public health risks — all subsidized by taxpayers.

Thank you for standing with us as we continue to expose truth and inspire change. Together, we're building a more just and compassionate food system — one that doesn't depend on exploiting animals or deceiving consumers.

For the animals,
Ben Williamson
Executive Director
