Hi John, it’s Joshua Cole. I’m a Delegate in the Virginia House and a proud three-time Sister District alumnus.

When I decided to run for office, people told me I couldn’t win.

They said I was too young. They told me a Black man couldn’t win a majority white district. And they said an LGBTQ+ person couldn’t win a rural seat. 

But Sister District believed in me. 

This community showed up — writing postcards, making calls, and building the grassroots energy that helped me become the first openly bisexual Black legislator elected to the Virginia House of Delegates. 

In 2023, you stood with me again to help us flip the state house. And now, this Pride Month, I’m asking for your support again because our majority is on the line. 

John, if you’re in a position to do so, will you pitch in $25.25 or more to support my campaign?

Across the country, LGBTQ+ people are under relentless attack. From book bans to bathroom bills, from school boards to the White House, we’re targeted just for simply existing.

That’s why protecting Virginia’s Democratic majority matters so much, and doing that starts by winning this race. Together, we can keep our state a firewall against right-wing extremism. 

I can’t do this alone. I’ll need your continued support, along with hundreds of Sister District members, to take on a well-funded Republican opponent in a race that national Republicans are watching closely.

As one of the only openly LGBTQ+ legislators in the South, I know what it means to stand on the front lines. I also know I’m not standing alone — because I have the Sister District community with me.
