Hi there,
Vote Forward volunteers haven't just been writing letters—this community has been on the frontlines of a national experiment to improve how we reach voters, boost turnout, and ultimately win elections that matter most to democracy.
In 2024, Vote Forward ran over 50 individual letter campaigns. With the help of over 78,000 volunteers, we wrote 9.75 million letters. Behind the scenes, every campaign was structured as a randomized controlled trial so that we could scientifically measure our impact on voter turnout after the election.
Overall, the results show that letter writing still is an effective way to drive voter turnout, but we also need to be increasingly strategic in how and when we use it, and who we’re trying to reach.
What’s more, the old voter mobilization playbook isn’t working like it used to in our new political, media, and cultural landscape. We need to keep innovating on new tactics beyond letter writing to effectively reach voters.
Our 2024 results show that if we want to make a real impact in 2026 and 2028, we can’t just copy and paste what we did in 2020. This moment demands creativity. It’s time to get bolder and place big bets—and that’s exactly where we’re headed.
Join us tonight at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT to hear directly from Vote Forward Executive Director Yasmin Radjy and Senior Director of Data & Research Emily Wasserman about how we’re building on what we know and innovating for future success:
