Dr. Raegan Gets Real on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter
Last month, Power to Decide and MTV partnered to model supportive conversations about sex and birth control. In season two, episode 30 of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter ([link removed]) , Dr. Raegan, our CEO and practicing OB-GYN, and Briana DeJesus, one of the first moms from the original Teen Mom series, connected and discussed how Briana could talk with her 13-year-old daughter about puberty, consent, and sex. Dr. Raegan encouraged Briana ([link removed]) to open an ongoing discussion that builds and evolves over time. Read our blog ([link removed]) to learn more about the partnership and the positive reaction we saw online after the episode aired.
Repro in the News
Each month we round up five interesting articles on sexual health you may have missed. This month’s roundup features ([link removed]) pieces on abortion resources, the federal funding freeze, and more.

Federal Update
Bill to Strip Millions of Their Health Care Coverage Now Moves to Senate
On May 22, the US House of Representatives narrowly passed H.R. 1, a bill that would strip millions of people of their Medicaid coverage and further restrict access to reproductive health care. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the bill would result in 8.6 million people losing their Medicaid coverage. It also specifically targets coverage and access to reproductive health care. For more on the harms of H.R. 1, see our statement ([link removed]) . For more on how critical Medicaid is to reproductive well-being, check out Dr. Raegan’s video ([link removed]) and our factsheet ([link removed]) . H.R. 1 now moves to the Senate for consideration, and it’s critical that we stop it from passing. Contact your Senators now and tell them to oppose H.R. 1!
FY2026 Appropriations
Now that the administration has released its “skinny” budget ([link removed]) — proposing elimination of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program and the Title X Family Planning Program among other harmful cuts — Congress continues to move forward in the FY2026 appropriations process. Members of Congress will aim to release, mark up, and pass FY2026 appropriations bills by the end of the summer, though that timeline is likely to slip.
All this comes as the administration continues to withhold $65.8 million in funds to grantees of the Title X Family Planning Program, one of the many programs funded through the annual Labor HHS appropriations bill. For more on the critical role of the Title X Family Planning Program, check out our new factsheet ([link removed]) and hear from Dr. Raegan ([link removed]) . Then sign our petition to HHS ([link removed]) (available in Spanish ([link removed]) too) and afterwards contact your representatives ([link removed]) to tell them to support increased funding and program integrity for Title X and TPP in FY2026 Appropriations.
State Updates
Clinics halted abortion services again after the Missouri Supreme Court vacated ([link removed]) two previous rulings from a circuit court judge who preliminarily enjoined the state’s total ban and other abortion restrictions. The Supreme Court ordered Circuit Court Judge Jerri Zhang to revisit those previous rulings and apply the legal standard laid out in their order, leaving open the possibility that Judge Zhang could reissue the injunctions on a different legal basis. This means there are no clinics providing abortion in 14 states ([link removed]) . This reflects 13 states with total abortion bans, and one state (North Dakota) without any clinics.
As always, AbortionFinder.org ([link removed]) is your resource for the latest on abortion laws and providers in your state.
As attacks on reproductive health and access intensify, alongside a dramatic increase in misinformation and the erosion of essential federal funding and support, we turn to champions like you to sustain Power to Decide's critical work. Your generosity matters now more than ever.
We continue to scale our digital tools—replacing myths with facts online—and collaborate with our partners on Capitol Hill and in popular media. With your help, we can expand access to accurate information and ensure no one navigates their sexual and reproductive health journey alone.
Help fuel this critical work by joining Champions for Access, our monthly giving program, and help keep trusted information within reach for all.
