Later in his statement, Drummond accuses Gov. Stitt of illegally using tax dollars for the resettlement of these refugees.
If only Oklahoma Attorney General Drummond knew of a law enforcement official who could hold Gov. Stitt accountable if he were accused of breaking the law...
Oh right, Drummond is that elected official.
If he honestly thought Stitt broke the law, he'd do something about it other than write a press release -- like file charges, or bring a lawsuit.
But he doesn't believe that. He's saying things to whip people up into a frenzy for his own political gain.
I can't tell you if Drummond honestly believes an entire group of people are suspect based on their nationality.
If he does believe this, then he isn't fit to lead the millions of Oklahomans who believe people should be judged by their character. If he doesn't believe this, then who else is he willing to endanger for his ambitions?
I only know for sure that he is empowering, emboldening, and fueling the hatred for others that makes our country more dangerous.
He wants to chase the MAGA fueled xenophobia and racist paranoia that is convinced our partners are actually our enemies.
And it just occurs to me that this behavior is beneath what Oklahomans deserve as Governor.
I've been thinking about Oklahoma's Governors recently, after all today is Governor George Nigh's 98th Birthday!
I hope you all will join me in wishing a Happy Birthday to Governor Nigh!
He's a governor that worked for all of us, and made sure to expand who helped make our state better instead of kicking people out -- did you know he appointed the first TWO women to the Oklahoma Supreme Court?
We'll be celebrating Governor Nigh & other Democratic leaders who put Oklahomans ahead of their own political ambitions at the Carl Albert Dinner.
The Carl Albert Dinner is our biennial gathering to celebrate, invigorate, and kick off the tremendous work of electing Democrats around the State for the next year!
And the stakes could not be higher.
To celebrate Governor Nigh's Birthday, you can buy tickets TODAY to the Carl Albert Dinner for just $98!
