Visa Overstay Penalties Act

Last week, I introduced legislation that would treat those who overstay their visas the same as those who enter our country illegally. My bill cracks down on visa overstays with criminal penalties to stop attacks—like the recent terror attack in Colorado—before they happen.

The monster who carried out the terror attack in Colorado was an illegal alien named Mohamad Sabry Soliman. Soliman was in the United States ILLEGALLY after the Biden administration allowed him to enter the country on a tourist visa in 2022.

Once his visa expired in February 2023, did the Biden administration remove him? No. Instead, they gave him a work permit.

This was a totally avoidable tragedy. We aren’t under any obligation to let foreigners--who hate America and our values--reside in our nation.

Soliman attacked a group of Americans who were peacefully advocating for Hamas to release the remaining Israeli hostages. Those who side with terrorists have no place in America.

Thankfully, the Trump administration is reversing the border and immigration policies of the last administration and putting our national security first.

Yes, I believe people who overstay their visas should be treated the same as anyone else who enters the country illegally. No, I believe that the existing policy regarding people who overstay their visa is sufficient to keep our country safe.
