June 14 th is No Kings Day!
This Saturday, Trump will celebrate his birthday, which coincides with Flag Day and the Army’s 250th anniversary, by throwing a $45 million military parade in Washington, D.C. The costly spectacle will include thousands of troops, dozens of tanks, helicopters, warplanes, and horses. In addition to feeding Trump’s ego, the event is an overt demonstration of nationalism and authoritarianism funded by public dollars.
Trump is spending taxpayer money on an extravagant parade while his administration is cutting programs like Medicare and withholding millions of dollars allocated for international aid, global health, and critical scientific research. At the same time, the administration is seeking to limit free speech, disregard the courts, and unjustly target law abiding American citizens.
The country’s response: a national day of action, peaceful resistance, and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarianism and corruption from Trump and his allies.
