EMET Deeply Appreciates Bipartisan Condemnation of Recent Deadly Antisemitic Attacks

The Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET) is proud to voice its support for House Resolution 481, which provides for bipartisan condemnation of antisemitic attacks on Jewish people, groups and institutions in America. The resolution, introduced by Rep. Jefferson Van Drew (R-NJ) had 53 original cosponsors, from both sides of the aisle. We urge more members to sign on, and call for swift passage of this resolution on the floor of the House of Representatives. It will be voted on later today!

The resolution recognizes that the recent attacks are part of a disturbing pattern of targeted aggression against Jews in America. It mentions last week’s attack in Boulder, Colorado, in which several marchers calling for the release of hostages from Hamas’s captivity were severely injured, the murders of Israeli Embassy employees Sarah Lynn Milgram and Yaron Lischinsky z”l in Washington, D.C., and the act of arson at the residence of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.

Says EMET’s President & Founder, Sarah Stern: The events of these past two weeks have been horrific. Jewish communities all over our country are fearful that they may be the next to get attacked. Physical acts of violence rooted in antisemitism are inextricably linked to the kind of rhetoric we see espoused on our streets, college campuses and online platforms. While free speech is a core American value, hate speech and calls for violence will always turn into violent acts over time. We’re seeing this unfold right now, and that is why we must work to pass legislation combating this steep rise in antisemitism, such as the Antisemitism Awareness Act.

Says EMET’s Director of Legislative Affairs, and former Israeli Embassy employee, Elad Israeli: I deeply appreciate this bipartisan resolution, commemorating the names of my friends Sarah & Yaron, and call for its swift passage. As diplomats, Sarah & Yaron worked to build bridges across national, social and political divides. Passing this resolution with wide bipartisan support will be a true recognition of their legacy.
