We want to be very clear about what’s happening right now. Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, and Pete Hegseth have begun the process of turning our country from a free liberal democracy into a corrupt authoritarian state.

What happened this weekend in Los Angeles was no accident, and it was just the beginning.

The Trump administration knew that sending masked ICE agents into LA to arrest undocumented workers would lead to protests and even riots. They were right. They wanted to provoke civil unrest to justify a military crackdown.

Stephen Miller immediately began describing the protest as an “insurrection” to justify Trump invoking the Insurrection Act and federalizing National Guard troops to quell the protests. Trump issued a memorandum that called for the mobilization of “at least” 2,000 troops for “60 days” and authorized Pete Hegseth to use active duty Marines to assist in putting down protests to protect Federal property and personnel.

Trump is attempting to prime the American public to see and accept the United States military weaponized and used against American citizens in our cities all across the country whenever Trump wants, for as long as he wants. 

Now, this coming weekend in DC, Trump will have hundreds of pieces of military hardware and thousands of troops present for a disgusting military parade spectacle. You think they don’t know there will be mass protests against the parade? They do. Trump would like nothing more than to deploy soldiers in the streets against the citizens of Washington, DC.

He incited an insurrection in an attempt to overthrow our government and destroy our democracy in 2021. He lost that fight, but now he has the power to suffocate us under an authoritarian regime backed by the military that will look nothing like the America we once knew.

We have a choice. Accept it, or fight it. At No Surrender, we chose to fight it a long time ago—and we hope you will join us.

Talk to your friends and family. Speak out in your communities. Do not let Donald Trump and his MAGA goons destroy our freedoms, our democracy, and our country. Because make no mistake, it’s OUR country, too, and no matter how hard Trump hugs the flag, we love America just as much as anyone else. That’s why we are willing to fight for it.
