Hi John,

Did you miss our latest webinar, "What Is Abortion Abolition and Why Does it Matter?" Catch up now to hear national and localized experts unpack the rise of extremist groups calling themselves “abortion abolitionists.” These groups often appropriate the language of Black liberation while pushing a dangerous anti-abortion agenda. Despite appearing at odds with “mainstream” anti-abortion leaders, they share many of the same goals and tactics. Learn more about how their influence is shaping the broader anti-abortion movement and what that means for the future of reproductive justice. Watch our webinar here.

Focus on Trans Liberation

Reproductive justice means more than abortion access—it demands the right to bodily autonomy for all. In our latest blog post, we explore how attacks on abortion and gender-affirming care are deeply interconnected, and why the fight for Trans liberation must be central to our movement. As lawmakers continue to target both, it’s clear: we cannot achieve reproductive justice without standing in full solidarity with Trans communities.

Self-Care

Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.

Here are our self-care tips for June:

  1. Find a non-productive activity or hobby. I love to sew, but can sometimes get caught up in how many things I make or how "good" they are. I started playing with fun-textured and scented slime a year ago and find it freeing to do something where I'm not creating a product, even if I enjoy the activity. It feels delightfully frivolous and meditative! This is one of my favorite shops and I highly recommend the mango sticky rice slime. – Negar, Senior Tactical Research Manager
  2. Make sleep a priority. When I'm stressed and busy, I'll steal my own time back at the end of the day by pushing off going to bed. By doing this, I'm only making myself more tired and slow for the next day, ensuring that the bad habit will continue. It's not just me, the National Institute of Health found that 1 in 3 Americans do not get enough sleep needed to protect their health. So, pour yourself some tea, get under those covers, and rest up! – Jessica, Senior Vice President of Outreach
  3. Re-read a book you used to love! I always find it difficult to choose the next book I will read after I finish one, and often end up reading non-fiction book after non-fiction book which usually add more stress to my life. When I find myself getting in this rut, I always return to a classic that I have loved forever and it instantly makes me feel better! – Laila, Lead Organizer

See you next month!
